BSNL commissions 10 sites enroute Amaranth Shrine
J&K Circle of BSNL has commissioned 10 sites with 15 combo (2G+3G) BTS along Pehalgam, Baltal routes to Amarnath Shrine to provide reliable telecom connectivity to Yatries.
“These sites are connected on very high speed 10 G latest technology transport network purely on optical fiber. More than 35 Km’s of Optical Fiber Cable has been laid for connecting these BTSs to the communication network,” a statement issued by the BSNL said.
The equipments & materials required for establishing the telecom connectivity at these high altitudes were taken through ponies/head-load.
“To cater to the large number of Pilgrims who are visiting the shrine cave, voice and SMS have been given priority over data along the route. BSNL only has been providing mobile services enroute to Yatries since 2010,” it said.
