BSNL, aerospace, defence contractors in India targeted by suspected China-backed hackers: Report

NEW DELHI: Indian telecom companies including state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as well as aerospace and defence contractors have been attacked by the suspected Chinese-state sponsored hackers, according to Recorded Future, a provider of intelligence for enterprise security.

Recorded Future’s threat research division, Insikt Group, has further revealed that Chinese state-sponsored RedFoxtrot has targeted several governmental and non-governmental entities in Central and South Asia for cyber espionage.

Shedding further light on the extent of cyberattack, the report said Bengaluru-based Alpha Design Technologies has also been targeted. The company is a manufacturer and provider of technological services to India’s defence and paramilitary sectors.
