BSNL 4G: ‘Arguments against domestic vendors bogus, defy Atmanirbhar policy’

NEW DELHI: Former telecom secretary Shyamal Ghosh has lashed out to arguments favouring multinationals such as Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, and ZTE, and said that such views defy the ambitious Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and undermine homegrown companies capabilities.

“Those who say local firms should not be allowed in state-run companies orders, are actually against the Preference to Make in India (PMI) policy, and such arguments are bogus. There has to be a level-playing field with multinational suppliers,” Shyamal Ghosh, former secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) told ETTelecom.
