Browsing internet ‘safely’ on Android phones becomes easier with this new app
Using the Tor Browser is one of the easiest ways for internet users to stay anonymous online as it processes requests via the encrypted Tor Network. While using Tor Browser on desktop is quite seamless, the experience is not that great when it comes to using it on Android smartphones. For this, the team behind the development of Tor Browser started to rebuild the Android Tor Browser based on Fenix– the new Android Firefox browser from Mozilla.
After six months of development, Tor Browser 10.0.3 for Android is finally available. The desktop version went live in September. The new Tor Browser is based on Firefox (or Fenix) version 82.1.1, and to connect to the internet anonymously it uses Tor version 0.4.4.5.
“Having achieved feature-parity with the previous Tor Browser for Android, we will continue working on closing the gap with Tor Browser for Desktop. That includes implementing the “Circuit Display” and “New Identity” features, as well as supporting the Onion-Location header and short “.tor.onion” URLs, among others,” The Tor Project said in its official blog post.
