Bhopal to deploy 400 smart poles for Wi-Fi, EV charging, weather forecast: Top official

NEW DELHI: Bhopal in India’s Madhya Pradesh will soon go truly smart, and is currently deploying as many as 400 smart poles to provide seamless Internet access via Wi-Fi hotspots, charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) and weather sensors to measure climate conditions, and is also focusing on area-based development with common utility duct.

“150 smart poles have already been installed while another 250 are expected to be completed by year-end and will have Wi-Fi hotspots, charging points for electrical vehicles, weather sensors, street lights and signages,” Tarun Pithode, Bhopal’s District Collector and Smart City Chairman told ETTelecom.
