Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea wary of business with Huawei, ZTE
KOLKATA | NEW DELHI: The government’s decision to monitor foreign direct investment (FDI) deals from China may make Vodafone IdeaNSE -4.60 % Limited (VIL) and Bharti AirtelNSE -0.82 % wary of any deep engagements with Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE for 5G gear procurements when the fast broadband technology arrives in the country, said industry executives and experts.
However, they said, the two telecom operators are unlikely to change their network gear procurement plans immediately because there are no curbs on equipment sourcing from Chinese suppliers.
