Bharti Airtel rises more than 1% ahead of Q2 earnings

MUMBAI: Shares of Bharti Airtel advanced more than 1 per cent on Tuesday ahead of its quarterly earnings announcement later in the day, as analysts expect the telecom major to report higher revenues, and narrowing losses.

At 9:22 am, Bharti Airtel was up 0.60 per cent at Rs 436.65, while benchmark Sensex traded 0.06 per cent higher at 40,167.86 points. Earlier in trade, Bharti Airtel rose as much as 1.07 per cent to Rs 438.70.

ICICI Securities expects Bharti Airtel to post a net loss of Rs 257.3 crore, compared with 23,044.9 crore a year ago, while it believes the revenues may have risen 14.9 per cent to Rs 24,347.9 crore.
