Bharti Airtel, Ericsson achieve 5G mmWave speeds of 4.7Gbps for FWA
NEW DELHI: India’s Bharti Airtel and Swedish telecom kit vendor Ericsson Wednesday said they have achieved peak speeds of 4.7Gbps using the telco’s 5G mmWave network for fixed wireless access (FWA) in a demonstration.
The 5G high-band or millimeter-wave spectrum is suitable for providing coverage in densely populated urban areas with a large number of mobile devices, homes, and business areas.
The high-band, above 24 GHz offers an opportunity for Airtel to offer unprecedented peak rates, low latency, and high capacity, said Ericsson.
