Beware, Google found 18 million malware and phishing emails daily in the past week

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Google has revealed that the company saw more than 18 million daily malware and phishing emails related to COVID-19 scams in just the past week. The company further mentions that this is the addition to more than 240 million COVID-related daily spam messages.
In an official post-Google said, “The phishing attacks and scams we’re seeing use both fear and financial incentives to create urgency to try to prompt users to respond.”
The company further mentions that these scams impersonate authoritative government organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) to solicit fraudulent donations or distribute malware. This includes mechanisms to distribute downloadable files that can install backdoors.
