Base prices for 5G spectrum raised 9-12% for May 20 auction

Kolkata: The government has increased the pan-India base prices for 5G airwaves auction in the 3.3 GHz, 26 GHz and 1,800 MHz bands by 9-12% per unit from the last sale nearly two years ago, analysts said. The country’s second auction of 5G spectrum begins on May 20.

They, however, ruled out the possibility of a bidding war among the top telecom operators in the sub-GHz bands, as the government is not offering the coveted sub-GHz airwaves in the 600/700 MHz bands this time round.
