Bank officer duped of nearly Rs 2 crore following crypto investment lure

MUMBAI: The cyber police are probing a case of fraud – perpetrated under the pretext of cryptocurrency investment – where a senior bank officer was duped of Rs 1.93 crore.

The accused promised high returns, asking the officer to invest more for greater profits. The officer invested his savings, mortgaged his flat, and even took a loan from a bank to fund his crypto investment.

The complainant told police that one of his friends had been talking about crypto investment and he researched it. During that time the complainant received a call from a person who asked him if he was interested in crypto.
