Balwa, 3 other accused in 2G case planted 500 trees each, HC told

Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa and three others, whose acquittals in the 2G spectrum allocation case were challenged by the CBI and the ED, informed the Delhi High Court on Monday that they have planted 500 trees each in pursuance to court’s direction.

The High Court had directed Swan Telecom Pvt. Ltd. (STPL) promoter Balwa, former Telecom Minister A. Raja’s erstwhile private secretary R.K. Chandolia, director of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal to plant 500 trees each here as penalty for seeking more time to file their responses to the appeal of CBI challenging their acquittal.

In separate applications, filed through advocates Vijay Agarwal, Mudit Jain and Deepanshu Choithani, the four individuals said they have planted 500 trees in compliance with the earlier court order through their authorised representative.
