Balance of regulation, innovation needed for deploying AI responsibly: Qualcomm exec

NEW DELHI: Governments worldwide will have to strike a balance between regulation and innovation for the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in a “responsible manner”, according to the US-based chipmaker Qualcomm.

“We believe in reasonable regulation that can balance both the innovation, as well as the need to develop and deploy artificial intelligence capabilities in a very responsible manner. There is a strong role for regulation, balancing risk with benefits,” Ignacio Contreras, Senior Director of Qualcomm Products and Technologies Marketing, told ETTelecom in a pre-Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) press briefing.
