Baidu AI model launch: Here’s what the company CEO has to say

Chinese search engine giant Baidu is developing its generative AI large language model (LLM), Ernie 3.5. According to a report by news agency Reuters, the company’s CEO Robin Li has said that the AI model will launch “very soon”. Ernie 3.5 will power Baidu’s ChatGPT-like app Ernie Bot and upgrade the company’s search engine.

Li announced Ernie 3.5 at the Zhongguancun Forum, one of China’s well-known technology forums. The official word comes a couple of months after Ernie Bot was first shown to the public.

Li launched the Ernie bot on March 16 as China’s answer to ChatGPT which is developed by US-based OpenAI.
