Australian ports back online after ‘serious’ cyberattack: Here’s what happened

One of the largest ports operators in Australia, DP World has now announced that operations had resumed at all its facilities. The announcemnet comes after a cyber security incident forced it to suspend operations for three days. This cyberattack forced multiple ports in Australia to entirely shut down their operations. The Australian government also announced that the port operator DP World Australia has suspended operations at ports in several states. Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil took to social media platform X to reveal that the “cyber incident at DP World is serious and ongoing.”

In this tweet, O’Neil mentioned that DP World Australia manages nearly half of the goods that flow in and out of the country. She also noted that the cyberattack has affected four ports which include — Melbourne, Fremantle, Botany and Brisbane ports.
