Asus unveils flagship gaming ROG Phone 5 series with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888
After weeks of speculations, Asus on Wednesday (March 10) unveiled the much-awaited gaming flagship phone ROG Phone 5 series.
Asus, like the counterpart OnePlus, skipped the ROG Phone 4 series to Phone 5 to succeed the ROG Phone 3. Apparently, number four is considered unlucky, as its pronunciation is homophonous to the word death in some Asian cultures (Cantonese).
The upgrade coming in the ROG Phone 5 over the 3 series is notable, says the company.
It comes with a 6.78-inch full HD+ (2448 × 1080p) 144Hz OLED screen and supports 10-bit HDR, 20.4:9 aspect ratio display, 300Hz touch sampling rate, Contrast ratio: 1,000,000:1, peak brightness up to 1200nits, and features an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is protected by Corning’s sturdiest Gorilla Glass Victus shield.
