Around 40% of restaurants may shut down permanently: Zomato report

Even though the food delivery industry has recovered to some extent and would take two-three months to reach the pre-Covid levels, the dining out category, which has been impacted the most, has forced many restaurants to shut down.

According to a report by food delivery and restaurant discovery firm Zomato, 40 per cent of the dining out restaurants may not reopen at all owing to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Zomato survey found that currently only around 17 per cent of the dining out restaurants are open for business, while another 43 per cent are expected to open once the situation becomes better.
