Apple’s India iPhone growth streak to continue in 2020: Analysts

NEW DELHI: India was mentioned twice by chief executive Tim Cook during Apple’s investor call after the December quarter results, courtesy double-digit growth in iPhone sales. Not just iPhone but Apple’s tablet – iPad – also saw growth in the quarter in India.

After its December quarter performance, analysts in India now expect the smartphone major to continue its strong performance in 2020 backed by further price corrections for older-generation iPhone and aggressive marketing campaign.

“We had double-digit growth in many developed markets, including the U.S., the UK, France and Singapore, and also grew double digits in emerging markets led by strong performances in Brazil, Mainland China, India, Thailand, and Turkey,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said during an analyst call after the earning results mentioning iPhone’s strong performance.
