Apple’s biggest iPhone manufacturer’s $500 million bet on India

There have been murmurs, rumours and speculation and some more about Apple looking to ‘make’ more iPhones — and perhaps other products as well — in India. Now, a report by the South China Morning Post suggests that one of Apple’s biggest manufacturing partners is betting big on India.

According to the report, which cites documents filed in the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Foxconn has invested half a billion dollars in India to ramp up production capacity in the country. The report comes days after The Wall Street Journal suggested that Apple is serious about moving out production out of China.
