Apple’s 3nm chip goes into production this week
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is beginning the 3nm node process this week, and to mark this occasion, the chip manufacturer will be hosting a ceremony at the Fab 18, Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP), the plant where it is starting the commercial production. And Apple will be one of the first customers to have ordered 3nm chips.
TSMC begins 3nm chip production on December 29
DigiTimes reports that TSMC will begin the production of 3nm chips on December 29 and discuss its ambition for a 3nm process node. Analysts suggest that the company wants to publicise its intention that Taiwan will remain the hub for research development despite the investments overseas.
