Apple to start production of third-generation AirPods in 2021, claims report

Apple is set to start mass production of its third-generation AirPods in the first half of 2021, as per a report by Mac Rumors citing a research note from Apple tipster and former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo‌.
As per the report, Kuo stated his in a note shared with the investors that also revealed a little detail about the alleged AirPods. As per the research note, the AirPods 3 will adopt the System-in-Package — as seen in the AirPods Pro — in place of the PCB+SMT design that we saw in the second-generation AirPods. However, we may not see any outer design change.
“The third-generation ‌AirPods‌ will go to mass production in the 1H21, and the most significant change of the internal design of this new model is the adoption of SiP to replace the rigid-flex PCB+SMT design of second-generation ‌AirPods‌. We believe that Apple will pull in this new model because of the declining demand for second-generation ‌AirPods‌. Luxshare ICT will be the main supplier for this new model,” reads the note.
