Apple to open its first online store in India next month: Report

Apple will reportedly announce its first exclusive online store in India next month. According to a report by Bloomberg News, this exclusive online store will start to sell Apple products by Diwali. Apple currently sells iPhones, Mac and other accessories online via Amazon and Flipkart. The company will most likely continue to sell its products through its existing partners as well.
Reuters in its report said that Apple CEO Tim Cook had said earlier this year that Apple would open its first Indian retail store in 2021. While the first physical store is expected to come up in Mumbai, Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch another in Bengaluru.
In an interview earlier, Cook said that the company got special approval as the government of India wanted Apple to work with a local partner. “We wouldn’t be a very good partner in retail. We like to do things our way,” Cook said. He had also confirmed earlier that in 2020 Apple will get its online store ready.
