Apple targeting to raise India production share to 25%: Piyush Goyal

US technology giant Apple Inc targets to boost its production from India to 25 per cent of the global output from the current around 5-7 per cent, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said on Monday.

“They (Apple) are already at about 5 to 7 per cent of their manufacturing in India. If I am not mistaken, they are targeting to go up to 25 per cent of their manufacturing,” Goyal said at B20 Inception Meeting in Gandhinagar. Business 20 (B20) is the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community.

Cupertino, California-headquartered Apple started its manufacturing activities in India in 2017 with assembly of older models of iPhones.
