Apple suppliers chose India even amid Covid: Prasad
New Delhi: Telecommunications, information technology and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said India has attracted a number of Apple’s vendors to invest in the country during the pandemic, underlining its attractiveness as an investment destination even during a period of economic stress.
“We want globally competitive companies to come to India. I can tell you today, during the Covid pandemic pressures, about eight-nine companies from the Apple ecosystem have come to India,” Prasad said, delivering the keynote address at the second ET Innovation Awards on Friday.
Prasad’s comments marked the first time the government divulged the extent of the widening presence of the iconic phone maker in the country, the world’s second-largest market for smartphones.
