Apple sets new record for this product in India, and it’s not iPhone
Apple recently announced its quarterly results, one particular number actually stood out more than the rest. The company revealed that it had hit an all-time revenue record for MacBooks in India.
A couple of months, research firm IDC came up with a report on the consumer personal compute market of India. The report noted that there was an “overall pessimism” — which was there in the previous quarter — in the market. In such circumstances, it does come as a bit surprise to see Apple doing quite well in the market.
It’s surprising for two reasons: firstly, the PC market in India has continuously seen numbers dwindle and secondly, MacBooks aren’t really ‘cheap’ or affordable — a factor that remains critical for the price-conscious Indian consumers.
If Apple’s numbers are anything to go by, it does look like Apple has managed to do convince a lot of Indian laptop buyers with its MacBook.
