Apple reportedly testing its most powerful next-gen chip for Macs
Apple has been testing the M3 chip for the upcoming slate of Macs. Now, the company has begun testing the highest-end M3 variant for the Pro models of Macs – the M3 Max.
A recent report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg suggests that the upcoming MacBook Pro model is being tested with M3 Max chips and 48GB of RAM. The information was obtained from a test log of a third-party Mac app developer.
The new M3 Max is said to feature a 16-core CPU with a maximum of 40 GPU cores. The 16-core CPU consists of 12 high-performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, which is an improvement from the current M2 Max that has a 10-core CPU and up to 38-core GPU.
