Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max review: The iPhone for all seasons

In his iconic book “A Tale of Two Cities” Charles Dickens wrote, “It was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Now to even mention Apple in the same breath as anything Dickensian is quite blasphemous, but somehow 2018 – as far iPhones were concerned – could be somewhat summed up by the above Dickens quote.
When Apple launched the iPhone XS and XS Max, they were these excellent phones with almost everything going for them, except the price. In a sense, it was the season of light. However, soon the season of darkness began – we know it’s a hyperbole but it did seem like that at one point. Almost every analyst worth their salt had predicted doom and gloom for the iPhones. Then came the spring of hope when suddenly things looked up for the iPhone and the XR ended up being the most popular smartphone of the year. Now, if you are wondering what happened to the winter of despair? Well, that’s something Apple would want – and fervently hope – to avoid with its new crème de la crème iPhone 11 Pro series.
