Apple iPad mini 2021 is ‘slower’ than iPhone 13 despite having same chip

The newly launched iPad mini (2021) and iPhone 13 series are both powered by the latest A15 Bionic chip but you may not expect to get the same performance. Apple has reportedly underpowered the chip in the iPad mini (2021). As per a report by MacRumors, the A15 Bionic chip has been downlocked to 2.9GHz in the iPad mini (2021) while the new iPhone 13 series models come with a clock speed of 3.2GHz.

Apart from the clock speed, the new iPad mini (2021) doesn’t support higher frequency mmWave 5G connectivity. This means 5G connectivity supported on the iPad mini (2021) is mostly low and mid frequency bands.
