Apple Inc-owned webstore debut in India: Products being sold at maximum retail prices
Kolkata: An Apple Inc-owned webstore, which debuted in India on Wednesday, has started selling products at the maximum retailing sticker prices, unlike popular online marketplaces Amazon and Walmart-owned Flipkart that offer discounts on the products sold by the world’s most valued company.
Apple products, such as iPhones and iPads, are sold at up to 12% discount in the online marketplaces and even the webstore of top retail chains like Reliance Digital and Croma. Discounts tend to be higher during busy shopping days, like the upcoming festive season.
This, analysts said, may impact the plans of the iPhone and MacBook maker to scale up its Apple Store online venture in India where price is often the most important consideration for consumers – even ahead of delivery time and value-added services.
