Apple has been sued over this Tetris movie

Dan Ackerman, editor in chief of the website Gizmodo, has sued Cupertino giant Apple and other parties over the 2023 Apple TV Plus film Tetris. The charges are that the movie rips off his 2016 book ‘The Tetris Effect’. Ackerman filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court, on August 7, accusing them of adapting his book about the landmark video game “Tetris” into a feature film without his permission. His suit alleges copyright infringement and unfair competition, among other offenses.

Ackerman has further claimed that after the Tetris trailer’s release, he reached out to Apple and unsuccessfully requested the company and the other defendants address legal issues before the film’s release.
