Apple gets its mojo back; may become leading premium brand as iPhone sales surge in India

NEW DELHI: Smartphone major Apple seems to have got its mojo back in 2019 and is most likely to pip brands like OnePlus and Samsung to become the largest premium handset brand in the October-December quarter driven by aggressive pricing, promotional and channel strategy and success of its latest iPhone 11 and XR smartphones, analysts said.

Tarun Pathak, associate director at Counterpoint said that Apple shipments are set to rebound in India during 2019 with an estimated year-on-year growth of 6% compared to a 43% decline in 2018. “It is possible for Apple to emerge as the largest premium brand in Q4.”
