Apple continues to be way ahead of Google in this numbers game

When it comes to market share in the smartphone market, Apple’s fortunes might be fluctuating but it still stays miles ahead of competition when it comes to one particular thing: adoption of the latest version of its operating system. So much so that now 4 out 5 iOS devices have the latest version (iOS 12). According to the numbers released on Apple’s Developer webpage, “as measured by the App Store on February 24, 2019, 80% of all devices are using iOS 12.”
Compare this to adoption of Google’s latest Android variant and Apple’s rival’s numbers are embarrassingly low. While the latest Android adoption numbers haven’t been made public by Google, a couple of months back when iOS was at 60%, Android Pie had mere 0.1% of adoption rate. The numbers must have grown at the turn of the year but since Google hasn’t released them we can’t be sure of the exact figure. What we can be sure of is that it won’t be anywhere close to the numbers Apple just posted.
