Android users, why it may be a bad idea to download that anti-virus app

NEW DELHI: Do you realise that the anti-virus app you are using is not safe for your smartphone? According to an online report about two third of antivirus Android apps are fake. As per a report by AV Comparatives, 68% of the Android apps are useless. The company has tested 250 anti-malware apps for Android phones.
The report reveals that 80 of the apps were able to detect at least 30% malicious apps. Some of the apps which passed the test include AVG, Kaspersky, McAfee, Symantec and others.
The report adds that 32 of the fake apps have already been removed from the Google Play Store during the last two months. The 32 apps removed from the Play Store include anti security.inc, AppLocker Cleaner Booster, AppsNewLook, AVC Security, Bastiv, Big Fun Free Apps, Birina Industries, Cooler Technologies, Document Viewer 2019, Erus IT, GearMedia, Himlamo, koala security studio, LA Antivirus Lab, Mobile Antivirus Lab, Mobile Tools, NCK Corp, Ocean Developers, PICOO Design, Protection & Security for Mobile Lab, Rivalab, Secure Performance Dev, Smart bapp, Taobao, Top Maxi Group, TrustPort, Vasa Pvt, Vasonomics, Vitekco, wallpaperdus, Weather Radar Forecast, and zeeworkers.
