Android users, voice search on smartphones is changing

Internet search giant Google is replacing the voice search icon on Google app and search bar widget with the G-shaped Assistant icon, according to a report by 9to5google. Even the text on the search bar that says “Say Hey Google” will be replaced by ”Ask your Assistant.”
The change has been spotted in Google app version (the 10.24 stable or 10.28 beta) and is said to be rolling out in a phased manner. The report says that even though using this new icon still brings the result in old interface, the results open in the slide-up panel. “This is likely not an A/B test, but a permanent replacement,” says the report.
Google has been spotted testing various little tweaks on its Google search app. Recently, it was reported that Google has been spotted testing the ability to send a text using Google Assistant voice commands. This was also spotted by 9to5google in a server-side A/B test.
