Amazon to lay off 9,000 more employees: Read CEO Andy Jassy’s memo to staff

Amazon has announced that it is laying off 9,000 more employees. The latest job cuts are in addition to the previously announced layoffs wherein the company reduced 18,000 jobs. With the latest reduction in workforce, the total number of employees that Amazon will lay off will touch the 27,000 mark. The previous job cut started in November and extended into January.

As per company CEO Andy Jassy, the decision is made to streamline costs. In previous layoffs, staffers were affected in the company’s retail, devices, recruiting and human resources departments. The latest round will impact Amazon’s cloud computing, human resources, advertising and Twitch businesses.
