Amazon begins mass layoffs: Alexa and cloud gaming divisions most affected
A few days after the report of Amazon’s plans to lay off about 10,000 employees, the largest job cuts in the company’s history have reportedly begun. The Washington Post and CNBC report that employees have been asked to find another position with the company or accept the severance and leave the company.
In a meeting with their managers on Tuesday, Amazon employees across the US were told that they have two months to find some other job internally or accept severance payment, reports The Washington Post.
The employees have received very little to no information about the ongoing job cuts, and they have not even received any notification from the company, two of the corporate employees told the publication.
