Airtel, Vodafone Idea to report sluggish growth in Q1 vs robust for Jio: ICICI

Kolkata: Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are set to report sluggish sequential revenue growth in the fiscal first quarter, hit by heavy customer losses amid rising cost of mobile services and fewer 4G user adds due to lower sales of pricey smartphones, analysts at ICICI Securities said.

The brokerage, though, expects Reliance Jio to grow its customer base in the April-June period — after three successive quarters of decline — and report strong sequential revenue growth, continuing to benefit from last December’s tariff hike as the telecom market leader has a higher proportion of users on longer-validity plans.
