Airtel, Vodafone Idea may launch 30 day valid tariffs like Jio
Mumbai: Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) may follow their rival Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) and increase the validity of their tariffs to a 30-day period, which will entice subscribers to opt for lesser recharges in a year but at the same time go for a more expensive tariff plan.
Industry executives and analysts have labelled this a “decoy” plan of Jio to up the margins and revenue without opting to increase the tariff plans.
“Jio is testing waters right now and has not made a big splash with announcements yet. They have not removed the 28-day plans yet. If a 30-day plan attracts customers and they are willing to pay more, then Airtel and Vi will follow suit,” said a senior industry executive who did not wish to be named.
