Airtel TV surpasses 50 million subscribers on Android

Airtel TV, a video streaming app from India’s market leader Bharti Airtel has crossed the 50 million users mark on Android platform, the Gurgaon-based telco Thursday said.

Sunil Mittal-driven telco also said that it is extending free subscription of Airtel TV to all Airtel postpaid and prepaid mobile customers till December 30, 2018, beginning from June 30, 2018.

The app currently offers more than 375 live TV channels, over 10,000 movies and popular shows.

To make a variety of content available on digital platform, Airtel TV has also forged alliances with Eros Now, SonyLIV, HOOQ, Hotstar, Amazon and AltBalaji, and plans more such partnerships.

“We are thrilled at achieving this milestone and being able to scale up the app so rapidly. This is a strong endorsement from our users and a result of our unrelenting focus on delivering a world-class in-app experience,” Sameer Batra, CEO – Content and Apps at Bharti Airtel said.

Batra added that the company would continue to expand content partnerships and bring more exciting innovations to our users.
