Airtel ready for life minus Huawei, ZTE

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel NSE 0.60 % India CEO Gopal Vittal said the telco will comply with any government directive barring it from doing business with China’s Huawei and ZTE, in the aftermath of recent border hostilities between China and India. Airtel added that the telco’s provisioning for adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, which widened its fiscal first quarter losses, is over.

“Airtel works with multiple global network vendors, including Chinese, and some meet (our) cost structures better, but we will abide by the laws of the land if any government notification emerges,” Vittal said at an earnings call Thursday. He was responding to a specific analyst query on whether the Sunil Mittal-led telco would work with Chinese network vendors, going forward.
