Airtel launches 4G services in Andaman Nicobar islands

NEW DELHI: With the commissioning of fibre link between Chennai and Andaman Nicobar islands on Monday, Bharti Airtel has become the first operator to offer 4G services in the islands.

The telco has been serving customers in Andaman and Nicobar since 2005 and was the first private operator to launch mobile services in the islands.

“The new fiber link marks a major milestone in India’s digital transformation journey as this critical infrastructure reaches the strategic archipelago,” said Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Airtel.
