Airtel, Jio tell SC that DoT has not contacted them for pending AGR dues from spectrum trading pacts

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have informed SC that they have not received any notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on any additional adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues on the basis of their separate sharing and trading agreements.
During the hearing on Friday, the three-judge bench led by Justice Arun Mishra asked Airtel, represented by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, as to how it could “avoid” its liability having bought spectrum from both Aircel and Videocon in 2016.
In 2016, Airtel had bought Aircel’s 4G airwaves in the 2300 Mhz band and Videcon’s 4G spectrum in the 1800 MHz band through the spectrum trading route. Jio too had bought some spectrum from RCom via trading and also signed a sharing pact with the telco.
