Airtel, Alphabet unit tie up for laser based high speed Internet delivery

Kolkata: Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel has teamed up with Google’s parent, Alphabet, to pilot delivering of high-speed internet services across India’s rural and remote regions via a new laser technology that uses light beams.

“Airtel and Alphabet have run pilots and successfully tested the new internet technology in various key locations in India,” a top Bharti executive told ET.
