Aircel app sees 20% surge in downloads post offering 100 MB free data on app downloads

Telecom operator Aircel on Wednesday said that it has witnessed 20% growth in app downloads in the last quarter. The uptake in the digital transactions was mostly seen from states like Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The telco is also offering 100MB data free offer with download of Aircel app which is also one of the reasons for the uptake of the app.

“The online transactions saw a huge shift post demonetization era wherein customers invested heavily in e-wallets along with credit /debit & net banking facilities. The Aircel app also witnessed a surge in transactions which led to increasing of our online business revenue by 7.9% in the last quarter, which is by far one of the best growth figures for a telecom app,” said Anupam Vasudev, Chief Marketing Officer, Aircel.

“The app also helped us gain insights into customer preferences and we were able to give special products on the app thus leading to its high uptake,” added Vasudev.

The telco has introduced additional features to the app like data loan, payment through main account balance and UPI as a payment option.

Aircel Money will soon be integrated as a payment option and Chat Bots.

The telecom operator is also delivering SIMS at doorstep for a convenience fee of Rs 50.
