AI safety concerns: The world needs an AI watchdog

The AI SafetY Summit held in London recently concluded with 28 countries including the US, China, India and the European Union signing the Bletchley Declaration agreeing to work together to address the risks associated with AI and for testing of the advanced AI models. This was followed by the announcement of the United Nations that it would extend its support for an expert AI panel to be set up on the lines of the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change.

Some leaders like Tesla’s Elon Musk have spoken about the existential risk for the human race with the advent and advancement of AI in the future.
