AGR verdict: Vodafone Idea will survive 10 years, says counsel Mukul Rohatagi

Ten years is definitely reasonable. We will look at it, says Voda-idea counsel Mukul Rohatagi.

Voda-Idea had asked for a 15-year timeline for payment of AGR dues, the government had said 20 years and the Supreme Court has said 10 years. What are your initial reactions to this verdict?
We had told the court that Vodafone has been through a rough patch in the last 8-10 years and they had lost lot of money and we required a sufficiently long period of time to recoup our losses and carry on. Vodafone was keen to carry on with its operations in India and therefore we requested for 15-20 years but the court it appears has given us 10 years which in the current scenario is not bad. It is definitely okay but one will have to read the judgement because it has many other issues in it but my initial reaction is that Vodafone will survive 10 years.
