After India, Australia and Germany to probe Google’s ‘anti-competitive policies’: Report
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) recently fined Google a total of Rs 2,274 crore for “anti-competitive practices in relation to its Play Store policies” in the country. The antitrust watchdog is also preparing to impose another fine for its market dominance abuse on the smart TV market. Now it looks like the company has landed on a sticky wicket as Australian and German regulators are reportedly also looking at probing the company’s practices in respective markets.
“The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) monitors enforcement action and regulatory developments in other jurisdictions in relation to digital platforms and takes these into account in undertaking its various enforcement and inquiry functions. ACCC is aware of and has been following recent action by the Competition Commission of India against Google,” a report by The Economic Times quoted a spokesperson as saying.
