Accounts of bank in Thane hacked, ₹2.59Cr stolen

The server of a private bank based in Thane and Palghar district was hacked by some unknown hackers. They siphoned off ₹2.59Cr from several accounts. The Wagale Estate police in Thane have registered a case after a complaint was filed by the bank authorities.

The incident occurred on June 24 when the amount from the accounts of at least four customers of the bank was transferred into different accounts. The case was registered on June 27.

The bank is based in Thane and Palghar district and has its head office in Wagale Estate, Thane. The bank employees at the head office realised that there was a glitch in their online transactions that had stopped for a few days, police said. Some of their accounts were hacked and there were transactions to the tune of ₹2.59Cr from different customer accounts.
