Abolish tax havens: Oxfam India on Pandora papers revelations

Oxfam India called for immediately abolishing tax havens after a leak of millions of documents, dubbed the ‘Pandora Papers’, revealed offshore financial assets of wealthy individuals across 91 countries and territories, including India.

The leaked documents and a worldwide journalistic partnership on Sunday claimed to have uncovered financial secrets of current and former world leaders, politicians and public officials.

The ‘Pandora Papers’ have named 300 Indians, including Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.

Calling for abolishing tax havens, Amitabh Behar, CEO of Oxfam India, said this is another shocking expos of the oceans of money sloshing around the darkness of the world’s tax havens that must prompt immediate action, as has long been promised.
