A small charge on subscribers, one giant leap in Jio’s earnings
Kolkata: Reliance Jio Infocomm’s revenues are slated to surge in the next two quarters, with operating income estimated to hover around the $1-billion (over Rs 7,000 crore)-mark by the January-March period itself, following the Mukesh Ambani-led telco’s October 10 decision to charge for voice calls to recover interconnect usage charges (IUC), analysts said.
The net impact of customers buying IUC top-up vouchers for outgoing calls to other networks, they said, would be accretive to Jio as expense outflow on the interconnect score is plunging while revenue inflow is slated to rise, going forward.
